The importance of being Light.
Natural gas is a light and transparent substance gaining increasing importance as a vital source of energy in the most developed and technologically advanced countries. Light in an organisational sense and transparency in every phase of the process are the distinguishing features of Plurigas, the natural gas supply company set up in 2001 by Aem Milano, Amga Genova and Asm Brescia to exploit the opportunities thrown up by market liberalisation. A2A, born thanks to the merger between Milan AEM and ASM Brescia, holds 70% of Plurigas while IRIDE, born thanks to the merger between AEM Torino and AMGA Genova, owns 30%. Plurigas' aims are to rapidly consolidate its presence on the Italian and international market by increasing its capacity to purchase the natural gas with a consequent optimisation of the market mix. Plurigas currently operates primarily as supplier to its shareholders, who in turn supply the residential market and who already sell to final users electricity produced by gas-fired power stations and is also directly involved in supplying large users.
The Board of Directors consists of Luigi Morgano (A2A S.p.A.), who is chairman, Valter Pallano (Iride S.p.A.) and Annamaria Arcudi (A2A S.p.A.) who is Chief Executive Officer.
